  A black Catholic parish. I've adored the Christian hospitality of the folks here quite often! The priest can be out of touch, but it's plainly obvious that he's trying very hard. He should be honored and commended. His ministry is heart felt. Somebody invite that man to dinner with your family already. Y'all need to let him feel welcome and not ostracized.
  
  Now, on a sour note. When George Zimmerman was released from custody and found innocent of his charges, suddenly the underappreciated priest was not here. I didn't ask why. But a black priest did show up. And he gave a vitriolic homily that will raise the hairs on your neck. Spewing out racism to the extreme!! He actually said "white people are running scared. They're afraid of black people." And gave a story about how only black get followed around at Wal-Mart. I was the only white man in the parish that day. I didn't feel at all uncomfortable. But I could see that my presence made everyone else uncomfortable.
  
  News Flash: I've been followed around at Wal-Mart. Lots of non-black people get followed around at Wal-Mart, and way more at Old Navy and Target. I've seen it - a lot. It's ethnocentric also to believe that only certain things happen to your particular race when in fact they are universal. You even explained in your story how you taunted the staff there being deliberately suspicious. You, Padre, are an ass of a man. Legal degrees or not, I think the monastery is missing you. Stay home.
  
  But the man who greets me at the door every Sunday, he is always so welcoming. A gentle man of good stature. He embodies the true Christian spirit. And the folks in the pews have always been friendly and joking and welcoming. And the kids are funny. They ask a lot of questions in a perfectly child like way.
  
  The choir is always greatness! The liturgy is at once perfectly Catholic and organic to the neighborhood. I love it. If God ever called me to ministry, I'd want them to sing at my ordination
